SS Para/Soy Container Blend (Slab Form)
We recommend testing a candle with each new batch of soy purchased, as soy is a natural grown product and each batch may burn differently. We can not be responsible for differences from batch to batch of soy as they may be inconsistent of each other.
About Soy
Soy wax can be challenging to work with especially when your new to making candles or are switching from paraffin to soy.
You probably will test many soy waxes to find one that best suits your needs. Once you have tested the wax and find the one that you like it doesn't end there.
Since Soy Wax is derived from nature it can be inconsistent with each batch and from time to time you will notice a difference in appearance and possibly the performance. This is normal for soy wax and long time soy users are well aware of this.
Soy can come in blocks/slab form, small flakes, large flakes, fine flakes and granules.
Soy can be white in appearance or pale yellow in appearance.
Some soy is 100% some 98% with monoglycerides, some with cottonseed oil, some with botanical oils and some with a mix of paraffin added.
We can not refund or exchange waxes unless the manufacture declares that there is a problem and recalls the wax. We offer smaller amounts for testing before purchasing the larger 50 pound cases.
We always recommend that when you get a new batch of wax you should make up a couple test candles to ensure that you will not need to adjust your wicks or fragrance load.
We also recommend that you test your wax with your containers, wicks, dyes and fragrances to make sure that they are all burning properly before you decide to sell them (if you decide to sell them). We can not stress enough the amount of testing that must be done before selling or giving away your first candle.
If you don't have the correct wick then your candle will not burn properly, if the wick is too hot then the container may break and if it is not hot enough then it will not melt the wax or give off a good strong scent throw.
If you add too much dye or fragrance it will inhibit the burn of the wax.
When using candle dye to soy wax you can expect to get a pastel color rather than a bright color. We recommend not adding more than 8 drops of liquid dye to a pound of wax. To check the color of wax you can do the following:
Melt the wax
Add the fragrance ( at the recommended temperature)
Add dye and stir well.
Spoon out a small amount onto a white piece of paper or tile and let dry, if you need it darker add a couple more drops and repeat test.
Southern Scentsations GF415 100% Soy wax, excellent scent throw both hot and cold, candles tend to frost and rough tops typical with 100% soy candles.
Southern Scentsations GW464 98% soy with 2% monoglycerides which is a natural oil and helps with smoother tops and less frosting.
