Southern Scentsations Inc., certifies this fragrance product is in compliance with the standards of the International Fragrance Association, provided the fragrance is used in the above application (s) at the noted maximum concentration level(s).
The "Maximum Use Level for Skin Exposure" is the amount of fragrance, flavor and essential oil that can come in contact with the skin. It does not mean that your base product can perform at these levels. You must test each oil in each application for evaluation of desired performance. Baby products have lower use levels than those listed above. If a desired application is not listed above, please call us at 734.782.2288
Crafter’s Choice Essential Oils are pure and undiluted resulting in a strong scent. We recommend starting with a relatively low percentage.
To Determine The Amount of Essential Oil Used In A Product:
The amount of essential oil that should be used in a formulation depends on three factors:
1) The maximum amount of essential oil the product base will accept.
2) The maximum IFRA skin safe level.
3) The amount of essential oil that smells good in your product.
You will look at these three maximum guidelines and use the LOWEST percentage.
For example: MP soap is 3%, IFRA max. use is 5%, and desired smell is 2%. You should not use more than 2% in your product. This 2% is the lowest of all of those numbers.
Maximum Product Base Guidelines:
MP Soap: 3%
CP, HP, CPOP Soap: 6%
Lotions and Scrubs: 1-2%
Bath Salts, Fizziest & Tub Soaks: 5-10%
Candle Wax: 6-12% (see specific wax for exact levels)
Lip Balm, Lip Gloss, and Lip Butter: 1-2%
