Citric Acid comes from citrus fruits. It has astringent and anti-oxidant properties. It is commonly used in cosmetic formulas to adjust an alkaline pH thus creating a more balanced and neutralized product. When mixed in appropriate amounts with baking soda, it produces a chemical reaction that leads to the fizz in bath fizzies. Our citric acid is small grain and ideal for skincare applications. This Citric Acid is not in powder form, but rather in a crystalized form like white sugar. It works great in bath bombs, but you will have to run it through a sifter before you can use it. I prefer to buy the powdered form of Citric Acid (like powdered sugar), but that is very hard to find.

Price and quality greater than store-bought! When I first started making bath fizzies, I purchased citric acid from big-box stores. I thought I was getting a good price. I mixed my ingredients together, per my recipes (and I tried five different recipes), but the fizzies kept crumbling when I removed them from silicone soap molds, even after I let them dry for as long as 4 days! The mixture was the wet sand-like consistency, as it should be, before molding. I thought that it may have been the quality of the products I was using, so I researched soap supply companies online and that's when I found Wholesale Supplies Plus! On my first order, I made sure I added Citric Acid. When my order arrived, the first product I made were the bath fizzies. I used Debbie's standard recipe for bath fizzies and I made sure I followed every step to the tee. Guess what happened...they came out absolutely perfect! I had just enough time to create large batches in time for last year's holiday gift bags and boxes! I asked everyone who received them to give me feedback on them and the only complaint was that they weren't big enough, so this year I made bigger ones using Crafter's Choice's plastic bath bomb molds, which work very well, and even have a video to show you just how easy they are to make. The only problem I have now is that my children keep stealing them from my inventory without asking!

Be sure you are using twice the amount of Baking Soda to Citric Acid in your recipe. If you are adding various oils, butters, cornstarch to your recipe then keep in mind that these may decrease the fizz, so perhaps try reducing the amount of these ingredients. We hope this helps!

My husband is a butcher and uses my bath fizzies every day now! This citric acid is amazingly pure! I use this Crafter's Choice Citric Acid to make our bath fizzies. By mixing it with Crafter's Choice Baking Soda in a 1 to 2 ratio it will make very powerful bath fizzies. I also love that this citric acid is finely powdered but there are hardly any clumps at all in the bag. People have told me that pellets of citric acid work better than powdered citric acid in bath fizzies but after using this stuff I am completely convinced that they were wrong. I had no issues with blending the mix or clumping. It's great stuff.

Great Packaging! I know it's a little thing, but sometimes the little things are what matter. The packaging of the citric acid I purchased from Crafter's Choice is so much better than what I've found with other vendors. The heavy duty, resealable bags keep moisture out and keeps clumps from forming, which in turn makes it MUCH easier to work with and gives me a much better end product!

Not just for fizzies!! I wish there were an option to include homemade cleaning products in the "Primary Use" section of the reviews! Sure, I use this in my bath bombs, and it's great...I've had many people compare my bombs to Lush, which is quite a compliment! But I also use it in my homemade dishwasher detergent. It's a cleaning agent and it helps with hard water too! I didn't believe I would ever come up with a homemade dishwasher detergent, but thanks to citric acid, I've got one that works! On top of that, I use it in cheesemaking, and to fizz/soak the really burnt-on stuff off my skillets. As for packaging, the resealable bags are wonderful--very strong and easy to close/open. I love the five pound size.

The only citric I've ever used for bath bombs! This citric is wonderful in bath bombs! It is a bit grainy, but a few whirls in a food processor makes it a finer powder. I love it as-is though, personally, and have never used another citric in my bath fizzies......Crafter's Choice's delivers excellent results. I love that the larger orders of citric are packaged in a bag so I can scoop out what I need. Very helpful!

Good performance This citric acid performs well but had many lumps that it made it difficult to incorporate into fizzing bath salts. Maybe a blender or food processor would help break up the hard clumps.

For vets and newbies alike, it is very important that you find a supplier that has good quality products that you will be using on yourself, friends, family and clients.
