A Musky Mulled Berry
SS Elderberry has a unique character, and I'm grateful that it does not smell like another iteration of Black Raspberry Vanilla (nothing agains BRV). I blended SS Elderberry with SS Cinnamon Hollyberry, and also with SS Cedar & Mistletoe (see my reviews for those fragrances). A friend of mine burned my test candle and described it as "having a sophisticated holiday feel to it!" To build on that sentiment, I would say Elderberry smells like a musky, mulled wine or berry. It adds an upscale vibe to a common fragrance to bring about something extraordinary. The amber note warms up the berry note in such a way that it mitigates the tartness of the berry, without leaving us with an artificial or candy-like aroma.
